Scripps Health - Scripps Clinic

The Laboratory of Medical Ethics was established at the Faculty of Medicine Necker-Enfants Malades in 1992 under the leadership and with the sponsorship of Professor Jean Bernard, then president of the National Ethics Advisory Committee. The action is part of the laboratory within the Graduate Medical Ethics and biological training in "ethical reflection on the practices of medicine and biology." She wants a land ethic based on research methodologies and evaluation it is based on shares of census and evaluation of care practices and research connected with nursing professionals or researchers, academics, as well as the industrial world health, and public, private or mutual social protection. Its founding principle promoting approaches that bring medicine to examine its evolution and the responsibilities they entail individual and collective levels.

The laboratory develops translational research through a very close collaboration with hospitals and care teams and research services.
The work is organized around two interrelated priorities identified in the thematic focus of the 2010-2013 quadrennial plan:
- Standards and decisions
- No, body and society

• The first theme "Standards and s decision" the articulation and potential conflicts of rules in the light of the decision in the context of nursing-patient relationship.
The research focuses on the implementation of approaches such information, consent, confidentiality, responsibility, autonomy, etc ... In a more collective vision it relates to the relevance of the implementation of standards (especially laws designed to regulate the practice) by studying the adequacy of standards practices and decision-making in situations complex. The Law of 4 March 2002 on patients' rights, on the end of life, those relating to biomedical research and bioethics laws are examples.

• The second theme "No, body and society" on the impact of medical technology on people's social life and the rules governing them. Research will focus on the transformation of conceptions of the human, physical and legal identity, notions of health and normality.

Today, the Laboratory of Medical Ethics and Legal Medicine is part of the new Faculty of Medicine of Paris Descartes.
It was labeled host team (EA 4569) by AERES (Agency for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education) and welcomes researchers Masters, PhD and postdoctoral fellows.
It is located in the Centre Universitaire des Saints-Peres, 45 rue des Saints Pères, in the heart of Saint Germain des Pres in Paris.

Many hospitals, doctors offer cash discount

2012-06-02 16:28:46 by Snakebyte_XX

Unknown to most consumers, many hospitals and physicians offer steep discounts for cash-paying patients regardless of income. But there's a catch: Typically you can get the lowest price only if you don't use your health insurance.
That disparity in pricing is coming under fire from people like Snyder, who say it's unfair for patients who pay hefty insurance premiums and deductibles to be penalized with higher rates for treatment.
The difference in price can be stunning. Los Alamitos Medical Center, for instance, lists a CT scan of the abdomen on a state website for $4,423
